The bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) has a body length of 2.5-4m, weighs 150-200kg and lives for 30-36 years. It has a dorsal fin, distinctly extended backwards and triangularly pointed. The ventral side is light, the dorsal side grey-brown to black. Bottlenose dolphins can reach speeds of up to 50 km/h and like to chase boats. Jumps above the surface are usually up to 10 m long and 4-5 meters high. This dolphin hunts fish near the bottom and consumes up to 7 kg per day. In addition to fish, they also hunt molluscs, crustaceans and smaller sharks. Intelligence is highly developed in dolphins, most scientists consider them to be as smart as humans. Dolphins have different positions in groups and have their own language and names.
